TIM THOMAS

The 2009 Vezina Trophy winner, and 2010 Winter Olympian, Tim Thomas agreed to a four-year extension with the Bruins on April 2, 2009, through to the 2012–13 season. Thomas made his National Hockey League (NHL) debut with the Bruins during the 2002–03 season, appearing in four games total, with a .907 save percentage and a 3-1 record.  He was selected to his first NHL All-Star Game on January 22, 2008.  He was chosen to play in his second All-Star Game in 2009, and was once again the winning goaltender for the Eastern Conference.  A month later, on February 26, 2009, Thomas recorded his 100th NHL win, in a 6–0 shutout against Anaheim Ducks. During the 2005–06 season, Thomas was awarded the Boston Bruins 7th Player Award, voted by the fans as having gone beyond expectations.  In the off-season, Thomas was re-signed by the Bruins to a 3-year deal.  Thomas played four seasons (1993–97) of college hockey for the University of Vermont.   He was a two-time All-ECAC Conference selection and a two-time NCAA East All-American. He ranks first all-time amongst Vermont goalies in games played (140), wins (81), and minutes played (3950). Thomas runs several ice hockey camps in the Northeast United States during the NHL off-season for both goaltenders and skaters.


TUUKKA RASK

Tuukka Rask (born in Savonlinna, Finland on March 10, 1987) is a Finnish professional ice hockey goaltender for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League. Rask was drafted 21st overall in the 2005 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs. On June 24th, 2006, his rights were traded to the Bruins in exchange for goaltender Andrew Raycroft. He was the top ranked European goaltender in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft. Tuukka Rask played his last European ice hockey season, as the number one goaltender for the Ilves Tampere (Tampere Lynx) team in the Finnish SM-Liiga. On May 5, 2007, Rask signed a 3-year contract with the Boston Bruins. On November 5, 2007, Rask was called up from the Providence team to the Boston Bruins for the first time. Just two weeks later, on November 20, he recorded his first NHL win, against the Toronto Maple Leafs.Rask earned his first ever NHL shutout, a 1-0 "home ice" effort against the New York RangersNot long after the beginning of the 2009-2010 NHL season, Rask, who had been made the backup goaltender to Tim Thomas, signed a two-year extension to his contract with the Bruins on November 5, 2009, that will have Rask under contract through the 2011-12 season with the Bruins.
